METEORA – MONASTERIES ON UNIQUE ROCK FORMATIONS
The two-day Meteora Tour offers a complete experience in one of Greece’s most extraordinary landscapes. The towering rock pillars and the historic Byzantine monasteries create a setting that is truly unique worldwide.
DAY 1 – DEPARTURE FROM ATHENS – LAKE YLIKI VIEWPOINT
Departure from Athens towards Central Greece. The route includes short scenic stops, such as Lake Yliki and surrounding mountains. Olive groves, small towns and natural scenery accompany the drive to Kalambaka and Kastraki.
KALAMBAKA – KASTRAKI
Upon arrival, there is time to explore Kalambaka and the village of Kastraki. These towns offer ideal accommodation options and traditional local atmosphere, with views of the impressive Meteora cliffs.
DAY 2 – METEORA MONASTERIES
The second day includes the main visit to the Meteora Monasteries. Depending on opening days, travellers can visit 2–3 monasteries such as the Great Meteoron, Varlaam, Roussanou or Agios Stefanos. The viewpoints offer exceptional panoramic landscapes.
THEOPETRA CAVE & LOCAL POINTS
Optional stops can be made at Theopetra Cave or other natural viewpoints around the area, providing a wider look at the region’s history and nature.
LOCAL GASTRONOMY
Optional lunch stop in a traditional taverna with local dishes, pies, meats and regional wine.
DRIVER & VEHICLES
The tour is operated by an English-speaking professional driver.
Vehicles: Taxi, Van Taxi / Minivan, Minibus up to 19 passengers.
DURATION
This is a two-day tour including overnight stay in Kalambaka or Kastraki.
